This%20is%20a%201%2F35%20scale%20assembly%20model%20of%20the%20German%20Heavy%20Tank%20Destroyer%20Elephant.%20Extensive%20research%20was%20conducted%20by%20Tamiya's%20designers%20to%20bring%20the%20modeling%20world%20the%20most%20accurate%20rendition%20to%20date.Historical%20backgroundIn%201941%2C%20Porsche%20created%20a%20prototype%20tank%20which%20incorporated%20radical%20features%20including%20a%20gasoline-electric%20hybrid%20powertrain.%20In%201943%2C%20the%20tank%20was%20transformed%20into%20the%20Ferdinand%20tank%20destroyer%20armed%20with%20an%208.8cm%20PaK%2043%20L%2F71%20gun%20housed%20in%20a%20large%20box-shaped%20superstructure%20and%2090%20units%20were%20produced.%20During%20the%20Battle%20of%20Kursk%2C%20they%20demonstrated%20superior%20anti-armor%20capability%20to%20knock%20out%20T-34%20and%20KV-1%20tanks%20at%20long%20range%2C%20but%20their%20slow%20speed%20and%20unreliability%20resulted%20in%20many%20being%20immobilized%20by%20mechanical%20troubles.%20In%201944%2C%2050%20surviving%20Ferdinands%20were%20given%20modifications%2C%20including%20the%20addition%20of%20a%20machine%20gun%2C%20a%20commander's%20cupola%2C%20and%20were%20re-designated%20with%20the%20name%20Elefant.%20The%20Elefant%20saw%20combat%20on%20the%20Italian%20and%20Russian%20fronts%2C%20and%20some%20fought%20until%20the%20very%20end%20of%20WWII%20during%20the%20Battle%20of%20Berlin.

This is an ALL-NEW TOOLING of the Elefant Tamiya based this kit on the Elefant on display at the Aberdeen Tank Museum. Tracks are injection-molded assemblies with nice sag molded right in. Includes three half figures with decals for one Italian Front version and two Eastern Front versions. You'll have to add the zimmerit coating yourself. Tamiya 35325 - 1/35 German Tank Destroyer Elefant

This is a highly detailed model of the WWII German tank destroyer Nashorn. The full size vehicle featured an 8.8cm gun also known as a PAK 43 and it was fitted to the upper surface of a light turret less chassis. Even though the vehicle was lightly armored, the PAK43 weapon was capable of penetrating 190mm of armor at 1,000 meters. The Nashorn saw action with German heavy antitank battalions fighting Soviet and Allied forces during much of the conflict.
